The Woods Hole Golf Club, situated high on a Cape Cod hillside overlooking Buzzards Bay, is marked by rolling hills, sweeping fairways, and dramatic water views. Its championship course is undeniably one of the finest and most challenging in New England.  On October 24th, 1899 seven gentlemen met to forge a dream, which led to the founding of The Woods Hole Golf Club. Course architect Thomas Winton designed the original nine holes.

Over the next 20 years more land was acquired, a clubhouse was constructed overlooking Buzzards Bay and the course was expanded to 18 holes by Boston architects Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek, affiliates of the famed Donald Ross. US Open Champion Francis Ouimet played the inaugural round on the new course in 1919, carding a score of 72. Since those early days, the club has hosted numerous US and Massachusetts Golf Association qualifying and championship events

In recent years, there have been major renovations to both the course and clubhouse. While always respecting its more than 100 year history, Woods Hole Golf Club is today a very modern club enjoyed by a diverse membership of local and seasonal residents, many whose families have belonged for years.
